Everyone has them. Us included. Of course we’re talking about friends that root for the Yankees. Not opinions and assholes (we have them, too!) Joining us for his first dispatch on the state of the Yankees is TheBSN’s official graphic designer and pompous Yankee fan, Matthew Funtime. His words are after these words.
Hello and welcome to the first installment of State of the Yankees!
As a resident of the the great Empire state, and lifelong Pinstriper, it’ll be my duty to exude the arrogance so associated with the greatest franchise in the history of all professional sports. The Greeks had the Olympians, Jamaica has a bobsled team, and the Earth, luckily, has the Yankees.
My name is Matthew Funtime, and this is the type of insightful invective that will be a constant thread in my inflammatory blogging. I will digress, I will assume, I will accuse, I will insinuate, and all the while, I will inform you of the facts as they unquestionably are.
Now, on to the Yankees and their ‘state’ if you will. Chalk another W on to the best record in the Bigs. The Bombers recorded another walk-off win last night, capped by future MVP Francisco Cervelli’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. Great. Fantastic. Yawn.
At this juncture, it’s fairly unnecessary to even watch the games. As the Yankees climb closer to 100 wins, and have an all but insurmountable lead atop the AL East, all the superstars sit & rest up for the dance.
It’s all about October. Wake me up when the real season starts. The Yanks have a few questions, but none of them are pressing enough to warrant blogspace.
See you tools in the ALCS, assuming the Angels don’t finally scratch out a series win against you punks.
